Among Sinners

In the wake of the Scarcity—after the grids failed and life returned to the rhythm of the harvest—the Vyrell vineyard stands in a Northern California valley where mercy and survival meet.

About Angela Merlo

Angela Merlo is a writer and former journalist whose fiction explores the thin line between light and darkness. Drawn to gothic tales and myths from a young age—from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark to R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps and Fear Street—she grew up as a daydreamer and playground storyteller, spinning her own tales long before she could finish reading others.

Reading never came easily. Struggling with ADHD and reading comprehension, Angela often heard that she would never become a writer. Yet she kept filling the backs of notebooks with stories, determined to write anyway.

For years she relied on audiobooks to keep up in school, until one summer she decided to teach herself to read on her own terms. At fifteen, she spent her days at the local library with a sack lunch and a pile of books—reading until her focus faded, then moving on to whatever captured her again. By college, she was ready for English honors.

Angela still loves listening while reading and often uses text-to-speech software to refine her prose. Since 2014, she has shared her work on multiple platforms and has been a finalist in several contests, including TNT’s National Horror Fiction competition, where she placed in the top 35 for the chance to have her story adapted for television.

She recently founded Light in Darkness Creative Studio to complement her imprint and expand her storytelling into new mediums, collaborations, and creative projects.
